I have been very lucky to be able to continue working at the studio when others have had to suffer the tedium of lockdown. The bulk of these pictures are the result of this period . I have simply wanted to carry on” – Lewis Miller, July 2020

Lewis Miller’s paintwork is eloquent and expressive. The viewer can instantly sense the energy in his work; the fact that he always paints from life is translated into a palpable vitality in his paintings. Miller’s close observation of each of his subjects is masterfully revealed through bold linework, vivid colour combinations and gestural brushstrokes. His captivating images reveal his reverence for, and understanding of, the demands of his materials as much as his sensitive observations of the world.

This solo exhibition showcases a magnificent series of still lives, portraits and nudes in varying scale. Their poignant beauty testament to the impressive technical skills Lewis has refined for more than forty years, as well as his unique ability to find visual inspiration among everyday surroundings.
