Deborah Williams

b. 1967

Printmaker Deborah Williams completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in 1994 and an MFA at the National Art School, Sydney in 2011. She is currently a PhD candidate at RMIT University. Her research and creative practice interrogate human-canine relationships through evolving theoretical and methodological approaches, ranging from existential observations that emphasise dogs' presence beyond their relationships with humans to investigations of their autonomous subjective experience and our shared meaning-making.

Williams has held solo exhibitions in Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart, Brisbane, and Canberra. Her work has been included in group exhibitions internationally in New York, Bali, Thailand, Scotland, and Korea. She was awarded the Swan Hill Print and Drawing Acquisitive Award in 2010. Her work is held in collections including the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney; the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra; and international collections in Scotland and the United States.
