Painter Peter Churcher originally studied Music at Trinity College in London before completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Victorian College (now Deacon University) in 1991. In 2002 he was commissioned as the Australian War Artist documenting the Australian Navy in the Persian Gulf. Churcher exhibits regularly in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane and has been included in group exhibitions at Heide. Churcher’s work has been accepted in the Moet and Chandon and Archibald Prizes and he was awarded the Kings School Art Prize in 1999. His work is held in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra; the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra; the Australian War Memorial; Canberra and the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery, Victoria.
