Simon Fieldhouse

b. 1956

Simon Fieldhouse is an established Sydney based artist who works primarily in watercolour and pen. Known for his intricate and vibrant line drawings of iconic buildings, monuments and landscapes from around the world, Fieldhouse skilfully documents society’s built heritage with warmth and reverence, whilst recording important sites and moments in history for generations to come.

“I am interested in depicting the collective things that we do as a society and also the wonderful architectural beauty that surrounds us in our everyday lives – with whimsy and humour!”

– Simon Fieldhouse, 2014

Simon Fieldhouse has exhibited extensively in Australia over the last 35 years and has been included in travelling regional exhibitions such as ‘The Phantom Art Show’. In 2018, Simon was commissioned by Sydney Local Health District in partnership with the RPA Institute of Academic Surgery to document their operating theatres. Here, Fieldhouse explored the unique relationship between art, science and medicine, which resulted in the solo exhibition ‘Art + Surgery’ that was shown at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. His work is represented in numerous private and public collections including Artbank, Sydney; Parliament House, Tasmania; the Federal Court of Australia, Sydney; the State Libraries of New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia; the University of Sydney, Sydney and the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Sydney.
