Visual artist Christine Wrest-Smith is based in Melbourne. She completed a Fine Arts degree with Honors at Monash University, including a semester at the Prato campus, Italy. Christine’s oeuvre consists predominately of Portraiture and Still Life and is informed by an abiding love and respect for the natural world. Her works are expressed with strength and a high degree of confidence reflecting an interest in form, structure and presence with each and every subject. Added to the chosen media of oil paint, charcoal and pastel, she also works with watercolour, printmaking and ceramics which appear regularly in her exhibitions. She has been a finalist in many of Australia’s top painting prizes including the Portia Geach, Shirley Hannan Prize, Calleen Art prize, Fishers Ghost, Eutick prize NSW, The Lester prize WA, The Brisbane Portrait Prize and Percival Prize QLD, The Rick Amor Prize, Len Fox and WAMA foundation in Victoria and others. Her work is held in public and private collections and has been exhibited in solo exhibitions and regional galleries across Australia.
