OPENING NIGHT Tuesday 28th April 6pm to 8pm
“The dynamic coastal environment attracts diversity in a play of movement and light. The caustics of sunlight and the mimicry and camouflage fractals of aquatic life create a harmonic effect. The chaos of the deeper sea and that of life on land are held at bay allowing an intensive immersion in nature. This is the inspiration behind these artworks and an urge to return to and protect these places.” - Stu James 2026
Stu James is an Australian sculptor whose practice explores the dynamic threshold between land and sea. In Ecotone, Stu James presents a new series of vibrant ocean creatures, their forms animated as if freshly encountered in their natural habitat. Crafted from beaten copper or drawn on paper with grease pencils, each piece shimmers with life.
