Gary Rance

Gary Rance has been a practicing artist for more than 30 years. He has held solo exhibitions in Australia and the USA and has completed public sculpture commissions in Zurich, California and Melbourne. He is also a scientist, author and professor at the University of Melbourne.  

Rance’s recent sculptural works utilise a range of media; predominantly cast bronze, beaten copper and carved stone (serpentine). The recurring motif of the figure in his work serves as a scaffold for a range of concerns – scientific, psychological, biographical and auto-biographical.
