Figurative narrative painter and draughtsman Peter Neilson was born in Melbourne and completed a Diploma of Fine Art at RMIT, Melbourne. Peter Neilson’s enigmatic paintings utilise shifting perspectives and spatial ambiguity to construct filmic scenes both beguiling and mysterious. Neilson masterfully suspends time and space, drawing the viewer in through darkened doorways and shadowy office corridors to rain slicked streets reflecting bright city lights. Glamorous women and sharp-suited men populate dramatic landscapes of cryptic, interlacing stories; intense scenarios which resonate like dreams half-remembered.
Neilson's work has been exhibited nationally in Sydney and Melbourne and internationally in London and Salzberg.
