David Frazer – ‘The artist turning Nick Cave songs into wood engravings’, Sydney Morning Herald

In News October 14, 2021

David Frazer’s latest artist book, Love Letter, has recently been featured in the Sydney Morning Herald in an article written by Andrew Stephens.

The near sold-out limited edition feature the lyrics of Nick Cave’s song, ‘Love Letter’. The book has the musician’s blessings – Frazer says Cave was thrilled with the results – and all copies bear the musicians signature.

Frazer’s artist-books reinterpret the songs, or fragments of songs, as wood-engravings – a form of printmaking in which the artist engraves images into blocks of wood, inks them up and runs them through a press on to fine-quality paper. Each page is separately hand-printed and no modern technology is used.

We are very much looking forward to David’s upcoming exhibition at Australian Galleries, Melbourne – opening Tuesday 23 November and current until Saturday 18 December, 2021.
