Kathleen joined Australian Galleries in late 2018. Previously, she has managed contemporary art galleries for more than a decade and worked briefly overseas in The Ancient Art Museum, Lisbon Portugal. Kathleen has an extensive background in printmaking and was at the helm of a specialised printmaking gallery in Melbourne for seven years. She originally trained as a printmaker at RMIT, has a business background, and a Masters of Art Curatorship.
Kathleen has a strong focus on contemporary Australian printmaking and years of curatorial experience to contribute. She is interested in artists who broaden and strengthen the future exhibition scope of the gallery. Kathleen’s passion for printmaking processes and years of devotion to works on paper, sees her new role as Manager & Curator of Works on Paper, as the ideal union.
Kathleen continues to actively endorse, mentor and promote Australian printmakers to a diverse audience of art collectors and once again, opens wide the AG print drawers and curatorial program and encourages print enthusiasts to view the community of artists AG represents.
Favourite artist of all time: Louise Bourgeois and more contemporary artists Paula Rego and Pedrita.
Favourite artwork of all time: Difficult depending on my emotional journey, however, many of Bourgeois’ prints or sculptural work resonate like the bronze ‘Arch of Hysteria’ 1993, MOMA
Favourite pastime/ hobbies: Travel, art, anything by the ocean, and most importantly spending quality time with family around the table with good Portuguese food & wine.
