Guises and disguises presents a collection of recent sculptures by Geoffrey Ricardo and Gary Rance, including individual pieces and a series of collaborative works.
“The sculptures in this exhibition all started with an idea, a story or perhaps just an image. Many of these origins were ineffable, some uncomfortable, and all were transformed through the back and forth of the creative process, the physical making and the desire to conjure something beautiful. This was certainly the case with the collaborative works which inevitably caught a rogue current as they passed from one to the other and drifted off into the unforeseen. None-the-less, the more compelling works (to me anyway) are those that retain a twinge from the original idea. Like honey with the stingers left in...”
