Something old, something new
- Michael Fitzjames

Seeing is believing; it’s almost a theological statement. One the ‘faiths’ fear the most. The claim that this world we share is but a veil, a chimera and the real wonderland is to come: after death.

Philosophers and theologians tangled up in their man-made words to bless their blindness. The rest of us open our eyes and behold the heaven that is. Here is Gaia in all her teeming acts of creation. The seeding, the flourishing and the dying bound by the restless waters and the ever-changing skies. The more we look, the more we see. All of creation in a moment of bliss; here, now.

PS. My first exhibition with colour was in Berlin in 1980. Highly allegorical, symbolic and surreal the drawings were crammed with ‘meaningful’ messages. As if opening our eyes and looking hard wasn’t a feast and a magnet for metaphor. That exhibition was titled ‘Augenblick der Wönne’, ‘Moment of Bliss’.
