Odds & Ends
- Pam Tippett

The first thing which draws the viewer to Pam Tippett’s works is their sheer beauty. Everyday objects, portrayed exactly as she has observed them, reflect an exquisite radiance neither invented nor exaggerated, but revealed through acute perception, patience, dedication to her subject and a rare technical brilliance.

Pam Tippett’s remarkable painting skills allow her to create radiant, smooth surfaces without visible brushstrokes. Her highly distinctive works possess a glorious luminosity, rich colour palette and a satisfying simplicity of composition.

Odds & Ends continues Pam Tippett’s explorations into the relationships we have with the objects that surround us. The artist paints the humble, yet beautiful items she has collected throughout the years. Small, intricately decorated jugs and ceramic vessels, single protea stems and a bunch of grapes left by an old friend are recreated with poetry and poignancy through Tippett’s sensitive observation and attention to detail. From beautiful antique Opera glasses to a modest tinfoil pie dish, each object stands majestic in the centre of the canvas with its own captivating mood and unique character. These ‘odds and ends’ resonate as deeply familiar, yet when presented with such singular and reverent contemplation they become elevated, vibrant and utterly enthralling.
