Congratulations to Glenda Orr and Kathy Boyle, whose artists’ book Exquisite Causes has been acquired by Manly Art Gallery and Museum.

Northern Beaches Council has acquired 12 new artworks from the biannual Artists’ Book Award, currently on show at Manly Art Gallery and Museum (MAG&M).This year, 96 artists entered from countries all over the globe, and were whittled down to 12 acquisitions by a judging panel comprised of Manly Art Gallery & Museum senior curator Katherine Roberts and Sydney illustrator Ben Brown. The acquired works are currently on show at MAG&M until 16 April.

Recognised for outstanding artistic expression, these works make a lasting contribution to the Library’s creative resources. “Every time these awards are held, we get a real insight into the past two years of life,” says Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan. “It’s a fantastic time capsule because in these books we always see strong themes emerge, that connect them to a particular time in history, and to a period of life we’ve all lived through together.

“What’s exciting for the community, is that these are permanently available to view at the library and can inspire artists and book lovers for generations to come.”

These new books will be added to the 97 artists’ books already in the permanent collection across Northern Beaches Council Libraries. Learn more about the Artists’ Book Award acquisitions here.
