In News November 7, 2022

Sue Anderson  Long Distance Parrot  2022  oil on linen  60 x 70 cm.

Sue Anderson is taking part in the Art Meets Activism in Support of Refugees – Art Auction Fundraiser, taking place at North Melbourne’s Meat Market Stables on Saturday 12 November, 2pm.

Anderson is one of 27 leading artists who have donated works for auction to highlight the need to treat refugees and asylum seekers with dignity and compassion. All funds raised will be shared between the Brigidine Asylum Seeker Project (BASP) and Refugee Action Collective Victoria (RAC-VIc).

“As an artist who has worked on many art projects over the years with refugees from many countries, I have been distressed to hear their firsthand accounts of life and death situations, and years of deprivations and hardship,” says Anderson. “To donate a painting to this Auction is a tiny gesture that I hope will help to support a refugee and to make them feel safe and welcome in my home country.”
