Last week, Jimmy Rix’s monumental 18 metre-long sculpture, Road Kill, was installed in Forbes, NSW as part of a major commission.
‘People often complain about the damage done to cars after hitting a kangaroo when travelling. Have we stopped to think about this from a kangaroo’s point of view? We may sustain a dent to the car or a broken headlight, while the kangaroo suffers major injuries or worse, loses their life. This sculpture sees the kangaroo taking revenge on its nemesis in a humorous and comical way.’ – Jimmy Rix, 2020
The sculpture is a part of ‘Sculpture Down the Lachlan’ – a 100km sculpture trail along the Lachlan River between Forbes and Condobolin. For more information, click here.
