Sydney born sculptor Clary Akon completed a Bachelor of Arts in 2001 at the University of New South Wales. Working across sculpture, painting and thought provoking design based street art, Akon explores the human condition through images iconic to popular culture. In 2016, Akon co-founded the collective ‘Wowser Nation’ together with writer and psychologist Francis Merson, a collective that satirises the Australian “Nanny State” through subversive street art and posters.
Akon has collaborated to create large-scale public works at Watsons Bay, Sydney and exhibited in Sculpture by the Sea. His work is held in numerous collections including North Sydney Council, Kennedy Miller Studios, Art Series Hotels, Victoria, Nutcote, The National Library Of Australia, Canberra and The Museum of Dover, UK.
