Sydney based expressionist painter Vicki Varvaressos has been exhibiting since 1975 and has presented over 35 solo exhibitions.
Working in both figurative and abstraction Vicki’s style is distinct and unique depicting contemporary life and her internal world. ‘I paint the things that interest me, that’s what I’ve always done regardless; whatever the content. It’s what I’m involved in and what I’m interested in at the time.’ – Vicki Varvaressos, 2015
As Joe Eisenberg states in the catalogue essay on Vicki’s survey exhibition at Maitland Regional Art Gallery in 2014 ‘Through her paintings she reveals her emotional and intense feelings to and about her personal world. Her art is usually depicted by swirling, swaying, rhythmic and tempered brush strokes on and through her subjects. What she imagines with emotion is transformed into form colour and space.’
Vicki completed her studies at the National Art School and is represented in a large number of significant public and private collections across Australia and overseas.
