Panacea – Rapid Relief
- Dale Cox

Panacea – Rapid Relief presents a dynamic and thought-provoking new series of paintings by contemporary artist Dale Cox, which explore the increasing disconnection between modern humankind and our natural environment.

‘The modern condition has resulted in a profound separation of mankind from the natural world. Likewise, we insulate our personal selves from our own natural state. Increasing diagnosis of mental and physical malaise are met by an eager pharmaceutical industry offering chemical interventions. As part of a living ecological system from which we often presume ourselves exempt, its becoming increasingly apparent we have paid a huge price for this exceptionalism. Perhaps instead of drugs we need most urgently to reconnect with our natural world, as an antidote, or ‘Panacea’, against the stress and alienation of our fraught modern existence.’  Dale Cox, 2023

Also included in this exhibition are a selection of Cox’s acclaimed Usurper paintings, a series investigating man’s impact on the ancient ecology of Australia and the fragility of our unique landscape.
