Hand-coloured Linocuts
- Kit Hiller

Kit Hiller draws inspiration from the native flora and fauna of North-West Tasmania where she lives and works, creating distinctive hand-coloured linocuts which reflect her appreciation and keen observation of her surrounds. Hiller’s bold and decorative works are printed in black then hand-coloured with rich colour harmonies and contrasts; conveying the abundance of beauty and life from this unique and captivating landscape.

This exhibition presents a series of works celebrating the diverse bird and plant species from the magnificent natural landscape of Tasmania. Kingfishers, Greenshanks and Pink-eared ducks are masterfully portrayed through clean linework and glorious colour. Hiller’s subjects range from individual species of flowers; Waratahs and West Coast Wildflowers, as well as scenic vistas of waterfalls and remote walking tracks. Hand-Coloured Linocuts also includes several self-portraits, as well as, still lives depicting luscious vases of flowers from the artist’s home and studio.
