MONO presents a curated selection of artworks which focus on the visual power of a restrained colour palette, the potency and immediacy of black and white.
Through the sparing and at times deliberate use of limited colour, these works draw attention to tone and composition; to form, texture, mark making, and technique. Many of the works in this show focus on a single subject, or concept, which is echoed by the simplicity and strength of the monochromatic palette. Rich atmospheres are created through light and shade, balance, and texture, and as a result we engage directly with subjects, themes and symbolic meaning.
This exhibition showcases an extensive selection of works on paper, complimented by key pieces from earlier eras by some of the most significant contemporary artists practicing today.
