Wayne Viney’s latest body of work explores the wild beauty of Tasmania’s landscapes through his preferred medium of monotype.
“The Tasmanian landscape, particularly the Cradle Mountain – Lake St Clair National Park, is like no other. It contains some of the wildest and most diverse scenery in Australia.
Within its borders are Tasmania’s highest mountains, a profusion of lakes, forests, swamps and plains. Much of the areas appeal lies in its unpredictable, often harsh weather; wild storms, fog, showers and warm sunny days.
My previous exhibition of Tasmania focused on the drama of light and weather across the landscape. However, this time, while I am still depicting its unforgettable mountains and lakes, the vision is more benign and gentle.”
