In the following interview, printmaker Raymond Arnold joins Danny Lacy from Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery via Zoom from his home in Queenstown, Tasmania. Raymond discusses growing up in Bonbeach, his early career and how he developed an interest in printmaking.
Twice a winner of the prestigious Glover prize, Raymond is a renowned printmaker who captures the essence of the landscape in his work.
Raymond’s etching Elsewhere World – Expanded Field Panorama (2017) was purchased by the Friends of MPRG from the 2018 National Works on Paper award. This panoramic landscape presents a fractured yet majestic view of Mount Lyell in Tasmania, and includes over ninety individual etchings. The work is also featured on the cover of MPRG’s 50th year anniversary publication.
