Lime Magic
- Stephanie Monteith

I am intrigued by the influence of light as it filters through the atmosphere, playing upon different
surfaces and transforming colours. Some of my paintings are the result of observing carefully
arranged still life subjects and others are painted outdoors. Whatever the motif, I prefer to work
directly from life because of its infinite richness.

My paintings are made in response to light. I paint what I see – reacting to the activities of the
human eye as it engages with the varying world. I feel conscious of exploring a shared human
experience: there is a sense of connection to the past, present and future.
