Bruce Latimer

b. 1951

Painter and printmaker Bruce Latimer completed a Diploma of Fine Arts at the National Art School in 1973 and was awarded the National Art School Student Union Prize in 1970 and 1971. Latimer lived and worked in New York in the 1970s and 1980s, returning to Australia in 1991. He has held solo exhibitions in Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra and New York and his work has been included in group exhibitions at the National Gallery of Australia and international exhibitions in the United States and China. He has lectured at the National Art School and the College of Fine Arts since the 1990’s. His work is held by the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra; the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney; the Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide; the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Perth; the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne; the Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane; the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, Hobart and several regional and university collections.
