Printmaker Hertha Kluge-Pott studied at the Braunschweig School of Applied Art and the Berlin Academy of Art, in Germany between 1953 and 1958. On her arrival in Australia she later completed a Diploma in Fine Art at RMIT between 1960 and 1963. She established a workshop in Melbourne at the Melbourne State College in 1968 where she taught until 1978. Kluge-Pott has held solo exhibitions since 1972 in Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and Geelong. Her work has been in group exhibitions including the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery Spring Festival between 1984 and 1990, the Henri Worland Prize between 1981 and 1992 and several print council of Australia touring exhibitions. Kluge-Pott was awarded the Geelong Print Prize in 1966, the Henri Worland Acquisitive Prize in 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1991 and the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery acquisitive award in 1982, 1984 and 1988. Kluge-Pott lectured art RMIT between 1979 and 1994, and at Victorian College of the Arts in 1995. Her work is represented by the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra; the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney; the Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide; the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne; the Print Council of Australia, Melbourne; Artbank, Sydney and several regional and university galleries.
