Celebrated symbolic landscape painter Tim Storrier trained at the National Art School in Sydney between 1967 and 1969. Storrier has held solo exhibitions in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and internationally in Japan, the United States and the United Kingdom. Survey exhibitions of Storrier’s work include ‘Tickets to Egypt’ which toured to the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Art Gallery of Western Australia. Storrier has been awarded the Sulman Prize twice, in 1968 and 1984, the Archibald Prize in 2012 and was artist in residence at the Owen Tooth memorial cottage in France in 1972. The artist was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia in 1994 and was made trustee of the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 1989. His work is held by the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra; most state galleries, several regional and tertiary collections and internationally by MOMA, New York. Two significant monographs of the artists work have been published ‘Tim Storrier: the art of the outsider’ 2000 and ‘Lines of fire: Tim Storrier’ 2003.
