The days leave their skin behind – With special guest Reg Lynch
- Nerissa Lea

Nerissa Lea’s paintings lead us on surrealistic explorations deep into her imagination, striking a poignant balance between darkness and light, complexity and simplicity; intriguing narratives randomly incorporating elements of autobiography, portraiture, still life and the beauty of the natural world. Her theatrical, meticulously executed and highly individual works encourage the viewer to move beyond conscious thinking, beyond the physical existence surrounding us, and into an enigmatic, intuitive mythology.

‘The days leave their skin behind’ showcases a magnificent new series of paintings by Nerissa Lea, as well as sculptural pieces by her husband, cartoonist Reg Lynch. The two series of works, each with their own particular voice, prompt and engage in a creative dialogue.

“This exhibition will hopefully be an open and inviting and maybe puzzling show that tells stories, asks questions, makes jokes and provokes conversation. What is us? Though Nerissa’s and my work are very separate in medium and practice, we are united in our desire to make images and to celebrate human existence. Both the knowledge and the waste. For now, the world is in strange circumstances. Whatever happens, remember the humaness. (sic) We all make marks.” Reg Lynch 2021
