Harrie Fasher is a highly skilled and poignant sculptor that produces large-scale works that embody tension and movement. Since graduating from the National Art School in 2010, Fasher has been a finalist in important art awards such as Sculpture by the Sea in both Bondi and Cottesloe and most recently the 2020 Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize. She has gone on to receive several awards and scholarships with the most recent being the Helen Lempriere Scholarship in 2017 and Sculpture by the Sea’s Rio Tinto Award at Cottesloe in 2018, as well as artist residencies in Iceland, France and Bathurst, NSW.
In 2017, Fasher travelled with a group of 12 artists to the Western Front, which resulted in the regional touring exhibition Salient: Contemporary Artists at the Western Front. Fasher has exhibited extensively over the last ten years, and has work in private and public collections overseas and in Australia, including the National Museum of Australia and both Bathurst and Orange Regional Art Galleries.
In 2020, Fasher set up a new base in Portland, regional NSW, realising a long held dream to establish a world class workshop space and to create a foundry of her own. The Portland Foundry was launched in 2020, along with The Portland Workshops, offering creative opportunities for artists, makers and local audiences.
