John Anderson’s vivid oil paintings are imbued with a deep sense of nostalgia, where glamorous women, vintage cars and a myriad of earthly delights are woven together in enigmatic narratives. The filmic quality of Anderson’s work is heightened by his expressive brushwork; his bold manipulation of the oil paint enhancing the sensuous nature of both medium and subject.
This exhibition showcases Anderson’s masterful skills as a Romantic painter. His love of lush paint surfaces, brilliant colour harmonies and visually sumptuous compositions is evident in both his landscapes and his figurative-narrative works.
