A Closer Look
- Janet Luxton

From rain forests to ocean depths the small selection of bird, animal and fish studies in my exhibition represent species that are being impacted by dramatic changes currently unfolding across our planet. There are many thousands of others similarly ensnared.

My paintings have attempted to portray the individuality and beautiful diversity of the birds and animals caught up in our increasingly turbulent times.

These studies are generally larger than life size, so the viewer is compelled to see the subject on an equal footing. All life is truly unique and deserves our unreserved respect and support. I hope my efforts might encourage others to participate energetically in urgent conservation work.

We must dramatically expand our appreciation of the natural world and its existential necessity in the next few decades or life as we know it could degrade so much the future will be completely unrecognizable to this generation.
