I have spent many decades observing, drawing, etching, and painting birds, animals, fish, insects, and crustaceans. They are universally miraculous and magical however humble. Every single one when you look into its eyes is an individual and at that moment you will see defiance, fear, affection, curiosity, resignation, or complete indifference. Our species has irrevocably upended the often-haphazard pattern of evolution unfolding over millions of years. The future for life on Earth does not look promising in 2024. To survive we must accept there is a common bond between all living things, mutual acknowledgment and respect is essential to ensure everyone’s future.
